Make a meaningful impact through your expertise

We are partnering with a leading national charity seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to provide technical leadership across all aspects of tax compliance, governance and risk management.

This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected organisation with a significant UK presence, where your expertise will play a key role in supporting the delivery of vital services and programmes. Working within a collaborative Finance function, you will act as the organisation's lead tax specialist, advising senior stakeholders and ensuring robust tax governance and compliance across a complex operating environment.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Financial Accounting, you will be the organisation's subject matter expert on tax matters, providing practical and commercially focused advice on:
  • VAT, including partial exemption calculations and returns.
  • Corporation Tax compliance and reporting.
  • Gift Aid governance and assurance.
  • Tax risk management and controls.
  • Tax governance frameworks and policies.
  • Legislative and regulatory developments impacting the charity sector.
  • Relationships with external tax advisors, auditors and professional bodies.
You will work closely with finance colleagues and senior stakeholders to ensure tax considerations are embedded within key operational and strategic decisions, while driving continuous improvement across tax processes, controls and reporting.

About You

We're looking for an experienced tax professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills.

You'll likely bring:
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent).
  • Significant experience in a senior tax role within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT, Corporation Tax and Gift Aid.
  • Experience managing partial exemption VAT calculations and returns.
  • A track record of delivering accurate tax compliance and reporting.
  • Experience working with external advisors, auditors and senior leadership teams.
  • The ability to translate complex tax legislation into practical guidance for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks, improving controls and driving continuous improvement.
Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to use your tax expertise in an organisation where your work contributes to a genuinely meaningful mission. You'll join a collaborative and values-led environment that encourages innovation, continuous improvement and professional development while giving you the chance to shape tax strategy and governance at an organisational level.
