A high-priority transformation programme within a major UK fibre network operator is looking for a Senior OSS/BSS Architect to lead the convergence and automation of Network Deployment & Infrastructure (ND&I) rollout tooling.
This is not a hands-on engineering role. The right person operates at the intersection of architecture, strategy, and delivery, comfortable running workshops with senior stakeholders one day and producing structured documentation the next. Given the pace and priority of this programme, the expectation is to land and make an immediate impact from week one.
Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Bring an outside-in perspective on automation, tooling, and autonomous network trends to client
- Produce innovation playbacks aligned to the client's tooling landscape and strategic direction
Tooling Landscape Acceleration
- Map the current ND&I tooling landscape, how tools are used, by whom, and where the pain points sit
- Define outcomes, data requirements, guardrails, and controls needed across the deployment process
- Align tooling landscape components to the client's Networks Vision and Autonomous Networks Strategy
- Conduct an outside-in market review of workflow tooling in networks
- Run workshops with the OSS team to agree next steps and prioritise requirements
- Support the development of documentation and guardrails on an ongoing basis
Skills
Essential
- Strong OSS/BSS background, specifically network provisioning, fulfilment, and rollout tooling
- Experience mapping as-is tooling landscapes and translating operational realities into clear requirements
- Confident facilitating capability deep dives and workshops with mixed technical, operational, and strategic audiences
- Ability to produce structured documentation that upstream programme teams can act on
- Outside-in market awareness — workflow automation, autonomous networks, and vendor landscape (Nokia, Ericsson, NetCracker, Amdocs)
- Experience leading small, blended squads in a consulting or SI environment
Highly Desirable
- Familiarity with TM Forum frameworks — eTOM, ODA, Open APIs
- Exposure to autonomous networks and zero-touch provisioning concepts
- Experience on network rollout or ND&I programmes, fibre build, fixed infrastructure, or RAN
