We are supporting a high-growth SaaS business with a major commercial transformation and are looking to engage an experienced Master Data Management & Data Strategy Lead on a contract basis.
This is a senior, consultative role focused on bringing structure, governance, and clarity to a complex enterprise data environment. The successful consultant will lead the master data management and data cleanup workstream across a broad technology ecosystem, including Salesforce, NetSuite, MuleSoft/Boomi, Azure, Snowflake, and Power BI.
This is not a narrow ERP data cleanup project. The client requires someone who can assess the full enterprise data landscape, identify root causes of data misalignment, and define a future-state data model that supports scalable commercial operations, billing, revenue recognition, forecasting, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current-state master data across Salesforce, NetSuite, integration middleware, Azure, Snowflake, Power BI, and related business systems.
- Diagnose data misalignment caused by duplicate records, acquisition-driven inconsistencies, integration ID mismatches, and conflicting customer or product definitions.
- Define a future-state enterprise data model and governance framework across customer, product, billing, revenue, and reporting domains.
- Establish clear system-of-record ownership and data flow rules across the enterprise technology ecosystem.
- Lead customer hierarchy design, including complex parent-child relationships, multi-entity customers, and different selling motions.
- Support product and SKU rationalization, ensuring product structures, bundles, and mappings are consistent across Salesforce and NetSuite.
- Build a phased data cleanup, migration, and governance roadmap aligned to broader commercial transformation timelines.
- Define stewardship processes and governance policies to prevent future data debt.
- Ensure master data standards flow correctly into Snowflake and Power BI to support accurate reporting and a single source of truth.
- Produce discovery deliverables including a data quality assessment, target data model documentation, and phased MDM roadmap.
- 7 years of experience in enterprise data strategy, master data management, data architecture, or enterprise systems transformation.
- Experience working across multi-platform environments including CRM, ERP, integration middleware, cloud data platforms, and BI/reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of how customer, product, and billing data impacts revenue recognition, forecasting, reporting, and commercial operations.
- Experience defining system-of-record ownership, data governance frameworks, and stewardship models.
- Hands-on familiarity with integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Celigo, Workato, or similar iPaaS tools.
- Experience diagnosing data sync issues, ID mapping failures, duplicate records, and inconsistent data definitions across business systems.
- Exposure to Salesforce and NetSuite is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Azure, Snowflake, and Power BI as downstream data and reporting platforms.
- Experience in SaaS, EdTech, subscription billing, post-acquisition environments, or complex customer hierarchy models is strongly preferred.
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across Finance, Revenue Operations, IT, and executive leadership.
This role would suit a senior MDM consultant, enterprise data architect, data strategy lead, or business systems/data transformation leader who has successfully delivered data cleanup and governance programs in complex, multi-system environments.
