Senior Operations Director – FMCG Hertfordshire
Lead a strategic transformation journey with innovation at its core 
 
Are you ready to take the reins of a multi-million operation, drive transformation, embed operational excellence, and foster a performance-driven culture as Senior Operations Director?
 
We are partnering a highly desirable FMCG operation in seeking a strategic leader with an innovative mindset to take them to the next level.
 
Your blend of hands-on leadership and strategic vision will be instrumental in revolutionising operations, embedding accountability, and championing new technologies such and automation. This position demands a visible leader – someone not afraid to step into the field, engage with national ops teams, and inspire excellence across the board.
 
This is an opportunity to lead a back-to-basics operational overhaul, creating a scalable, data-driven future. You’ll report directly to the MD and take ownership of the operational P&L. Collaborating closely with Commercial, Finance, Procurement, and HR, you’ll drive company-wide alignment and long-term change.
 
What You’ll Be Doing: 
  • Operational Transformation: Leveraging technology to enhance processes, optimise performance, and drive efficiency across field operations, technical service, routing & SLAs.
  • Visible Leadership & Accountability: Engaging with teams nationwide, implementing daily operational cadences, fostering team accountability, and delivering against measurable KPIs.  Team size > 100.
  • Collaboration & Strategy: Developing and executing strategies that align operational execution with company-wide goals, ensuring a seamless partnership across departments. 
  • Financial Stewardship: Managing budgets end-to-end, guiding EBITDA growth, and maintaining tight control of P&L.
  • Team Development: Training, mentoring, and engaging teams to create an environment of innovation and ongoing learning.
 
Experience needed:
  • Senior operational leadership experience in FMCG, food service, logistics, facilities management, or similar sectors. 
  • Proven capability in leading large, dispersed teams and executing large-scale operational change. 
  • Expertise in operational P&L oversight, cost-to-serve management, and SLA-driven deliverables. 
  • Track record of success in performance-led environments.
