Job description

Our client a true leader in their field are looking for Project Business Controller for a 12 month contract position. The role will be a key part of the Projects senior management team and look to support all commercial decisions and own the financial plan.
 
The role is accountable for leading and driving the following: 
  • Input into the Group vision and plan, translating this into a vision and plan for Finance
  • Project Analysis – Collate data on the portfolio, transforming information into risk and opportunities, driving the need for fact-based decision making
  • Develop the capabilities, tools, techniques and models to enable finance to influence and drive better decision making within the project.
  • Set the Project Operational Plan financial targets, in line with the Business Unit / Segment / Division strategic plans to enable the achievement of organisational performance goals.
  • Establish the operational planning cycle which includes ownership and communication of the timetable
  • Provision of Operating Plan Project templates and supporting guidance
  • Active involvement in the operating plan process including Project / Business Unit / Sector reviews
  • Consolidation of Operating Plan to Business Unit level reports
  • Set assumptions for revenue and cost levels and deliver the Strategic plan and Operating Plan.
  • Project Reporting – Develop and evolve standard reporting suite of Project financial information to be used across the Sector
  • Assess the strategic goals regarding business development, pipeline quality and risk-return of project tenders
  • Advise on whether or not to tender, analyse risks, margins and other key controls and monitor sign-off procedures
  • Creating key financial and scenario-based models which support strategic business decisions.
  • Drive the periodic Forecast process, predicting the financial performance of the Project against the financial targets and report on the achievement of Projects performance goals, including quarterly forecasts, monthly forecasts and a rolling forecast for liquidity
  • Determine the critical success factors, opportunities, risks and performance indicators linked with project lifecycle stages. Provide guidance and challenge in reviews.
 
The role is a great opportunity to influence the successful delivery of a large scale project, being a trusted member of the senior leadership team and driving commercial finance to be central to Project decision making. A strong Finance Business Partnering background will be essential for the position as will prior experience of project led environments.
