We’re excited to announce the launch of Investigo Germany, marking an important milestone in our continued international growth. As we establish our presence in the German market, we’re proud to introduce the people leading this journey on the ground.
In this Q&A, we shine a spotlight on Lena Birk, to learn more about her role, gain insights into the German tech and transformation market, and what makes Investigo Germany a compelling partner for both clients and candidates.
What is your role at Investigo Germany, and which areas do you specialise in?
I am the Regional Business Director for Investigo Germany, responsible for building and leading our German market presence in Berlin. My focus is on establishing a high-performing local team and partnering with clients across technology and digital transformation. I specialise in senior and strategic IT recruitment, supporting organisations with complex hiring needs across areas such as software engineering, cloud, data, cybersecurity, and transformation leadership.
What attracted you to joining Investigo and being part of the Germany launch?
What really attracted me to Investigo was the combination of an established international brand with a genuinely entrepreneurial mindset. The opportunity to build the German market from the ground up, while being supported by a global business with strong values and delivery standards, was very compelling. Germany is a key strategic market and being trusted to shape that growth locally was an exciting challenge I wanted to take on.
What are you seeing in the German tech/transformation market right now that excites you most?
The pace of digital transformation in Germany is accelerating significantly. Traditional industries are investing in modernisation, cloud adoption, data-driven decision-making, and AI-enabled solutions, while scale-ups and international organisations continue to see Germany as a key innovation hub. What excites me most is the growing openness to change, not only in technology adoption but also in how companies approach talent, flexibility, and the integration of international expertise.
What skills or profiles are currently most in demand, and where are companies struggling to hire?
There is consistently high demand for experienced software engineers, cloud and DevOps specialists, data engineers, and cybersecurity professionals. Companies are particularly struggling to hire senior-level profiles who combine strong technical expertise with business and stakeholder awareness. Transformation leaders, such as programme managers and enterprise architects, are also in short supply, especially those with experience navigating large, complex organisations.
Why should candidates and businesses speak to Investigo Germany?
Investigo Germany takes a consultative, partnership-led approach rather than transactional recruitment. We combine strong local market knowledge with international reach to support both German and global organisations. For candidates, we focus on long-term career alignment. For businesses, we provide honest market insight, access to high-quality talent, and a recruitment partner that takes the time to listen and understand their goals.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing, or what’s something people might not know about you?
Outside of work, I value spending time with my family and staying active, particularly swimming. What people might not know about me is that I studied mathematics and gained hands-on coding experience during my studies. This background helps me closely relate to the IT and tech community and understand the challenges and motivations of the professionals we work with.
