This position would suit an individual who enjoys challenging incumbent suppliers, uncovering cost-saving opportunities, and driving measurable commercial improvements through effective contract management and negotiation.
Key Responsibilities Contract Management & Commercial Reviews
  • Manage a portfolio of strategic supplier contracts across multiple spend categories.
  • Lead post-contract commercial reviews, assessing pricing structures, commercial terms, and supplier performance.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve service levels, strengthen contractual protections, and optimise commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor supplier performance against agreed KPIs, SLAs, and contractual commitments.
  • Develop and maintain effective contract governance frameworks and reporting processes.
Procurement Renewals & Re-Negotiations
  • Lead procurement renewals and contract extension strategies to ensure continuity of supply and value for money.
  • Conduct commercial assessments of incumbent supplier contracts ahead of renewal activity.
  • Drive re-negotiations to secure improved commercial terms, pricing, service levels, and risk positions.
  • Support sourcing and tender activities where appropriate and provide commercial expertise throughout the procurement lifecycle.
Commercial Negotiation & Supplier Management
  • Lead negotiations across pricing, service delivery, performance incentives, and contractual terms.
  • Deliver measurable savings and commercial improvements across existing supplier agreements.
  • Build strong relationships with strategic suppliers and key internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate supplier reviews, governance meetings, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Act as the primary commercial contact for supplier-related escalations and negotiations.
Risk, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Ensure contracts comply with internal governance requirements and regulatory obligations.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual, operational, and financial risks.
  • Maintain accurate contract records, renewal schedules, and supplier documentation.
  • Promote best practice in contract management, supplier governance, and commercial performance management.
Skills & Experience Required Essential
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Contract Manager, Commercial Manager, Procurement Manager, or similar commercial role.
  • Strong experience conducting post-contract commercial reviews and supplier contract assessments.
  • Demonstrable success delivering savings and commercial improvements through supplier re-negotiations.
  • Experience managing contract renewals, extensions, and supplier governance activities.
  • Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid understanding of procurement principles, contract management, and commercial risk.
  • Ability to analyse supplier spend, contract performance, and commercial arrangements.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building capabilities.

  • MCIPS qualification or equivalent procurement accreditation.
  • Degree educated in Business, Procurement, Commercial Management, Law, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing, category management, and contract lifecycle management tools.

  • Competitive salary of £75,000 - £80,000 plus bonus.
  • Hybrid and highly flexible working arrangements.
  • Opportunity to influence strategic supplier and procurement decisions.
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders and key supplier relationships.
