Senior Consultant

Job description

Test Lead – OT / Infrastructure & networks

I’m looking for an experienced Test Lead for a Cyber Resilience Programme at a major UK electricity distribution network operator. This is an OT-predominant test governance and assurance role: planning and co-ordinating the testing of software upgrades to network device infrastructure before they reach production, and producing the artefacts that evidence a proposed solution is suitable, proportionate and safe to deploy.

The role
You'll own test planning and assurance across upgrades to OT/network infrastructure, working alongside existing programme delivery leads and cyber security SMEs to make sure changes are proven before release.

Key responsibilities
  • Author written test plans covering scope, scheduling, resources and success criteria, working with programme delivery leads.
  • Review solution design documents and threat-modelling reports, and map them to a clear set of system requirements.
  • Liaise with cyber security SMEs to define and document test cases that verify those requirements.
  • Create and maintain the supporting artefacts for test exit and sign-off — test reporting, defect tracking, traceability and evidence.
  • Produce assurance artefacts that evidence the suitability and proportionality of the proposed technical solution / risk reduction.
The programme is OT-focused, weighted toward three domains: logging & monitoring, physical security, and backups.

Essential experience
  • Test lead / test management background with strong test governance and assurance discipline — strategy, planning, requirements traceability, defect management, exit and sign-off.
  • Genuine OT / ICS / SCADA exposure — ideally utilities, energy or another CNI/safety-critical environment.
  • Ability to read solution designs and threat models and derive proportionate, requirements-mapped test cases.
  • Strong written communication — the role produces documentation and evidence relied on for release decisions.
  • A self-starter comfortable engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable
  • Framework literacy: IEC 62443, NIS / CAF, NCSC guidance.
  • Certifications such as GICSP, IEC 62443, ISTQB (Advanced Test Manager welcome).
  • Direct electricity distribution / network operator experience.
  • Testing of network device infrastructure upgrades (firmware, configuration, resilience/failover).
