£430 per day | Inside IR35 | 12-month contract | Start March 2026

A major nuclear programme is seeking an experienced IT Operations Manager to lead and stabilise a growing IT environment supporting critical delivery activity. You will operate within a unique structure: closely aligned to a large parent organisation while also managing independent programme systems and services.
This is not a maintenance-only role. The environment is still evolving, meaning you will shape operational processes, build the IT function, and implement operational governance from the ground up while ensuring secure and reliable daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Own day-to-day IT operations across infrastructure, platforms, and services
• Establish operational processes, procedures, and governance
• Build and develop the internal IT support capability and operating model
• Lead implementation of a programme helpdesk/service management solution
• Implement and manage software asset management and licence compliance
• Ensure secure operation of networks, infrastructure, and cloud systems
• Work closely with the parent organisation’s IT teams and suppliers
• Support a secure, regulated environment aligned to nuclear sector expectations

Required Experience
• Proven experience as an IT Operations Manager or similar leadership role
• Strong technical background across infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments
• Experience installing, maintaining, and securing enterprise IT systems
• Knowledge of data protection and information security (including GDPR)
• Experience implementing service management processes
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Familiarity with ITIL and governance frameworks such as COBIT

Contract Details
Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite near Abingdon-on-Thames / Oxford
Duration: 12 months
Start: March 2026
Rate: £430/day
