Job description

The Head of Finance is a key business partner to the BU General Manager and will also be responsible for the performance management, administrative and financial management of (both in the UK). Both companies are engineering focused manufacturers of safety interlocks and rail depot systems and report into a FTSE Parent company He/she reports to the Group Finance Director, with a reporting line to the GM for matters relating to the wider firm.
Key priorities:The successful candidate will be commercially astute and operationally and strategically oriented, and will oversee the Company’s financial management, general accounting and controls, reporting, as well as be intimately involved in business partnering the GM and strategic planning
 
 
Key responsibilities:
  1. Business Partnering
- Effectively contribute as a member of the Leadership Team member to both define and implement the strategic direction of the business and track its actual and forecasted impact on financials;
- Actively engage with peers at the LT level to coordinate key initiatives and ensure targets are reached through data and fact-based analysis;
- Collaborate closely with GM, always balancing objectively the opportunities and risks for the group
- Challenge business assumptions where relevant and help drive mitigation and development plans;
- Continually evaluate and monitor risks in the external environment relating to the business;
 
  1. Project Support: Global ERP Project
- business lead for current ERP system (EFACs)
- key change agent for implementation of new ERP (D365) for UK businesses
 
 
  1. Finance – Statutory Accounting, Management Reporting & Compliance
- Ensuring the reliability of the company's accounts at local (statutory) and management reporting purposes. Ensuring that monthly, half-yearly and annual closings comply with Group requirements in terms of standards (IFRS), format and deadlines.
- Ensuring compliance with Halma procedures and local legal requirements in terms of risks and internal controls.
- Implement the management procedures and KPIs required to monitor activities and report to management.
- Develop the budget and business plan in line with strategic choices as well as the monthly forecast
- Working closely with commercial management, identifying challenges and opportunities with operational stakeholders, providing actionable information to support improved financial performance
- Manage the relationship with Auditors
 
  1. Accounting Operations - Treasury, credit, collection, banking relations:
- Ensure banking relations.
- Monitor the cash position and analyze variances from forecasts.
- Defining and monitoring credit policy in collaboration with the sales department.
- Ensure invoices are sent to customers on time with a high level of accuracy
 
  1. Manufacturing specific accounting experience:
- Stock valuations
- Gross margin understanding
- Bills of Materials
 
 
  1. Legal
- Organises shareholders' meetings in compliance with legal requirements.
- Checks the company's legal commitments (insurance, sub-contracting, etc.) by centralising and validating all contracts drawn up.
- Ensuring compliance with legislation and monitoring legal and contractual matters.
- Supervising the settlement of disputes.
 
  1. Payroll
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC obligations
- Supervise payroll activities
- Implement the remuneration policy in conjunction with the Global HRD.

Qualification requirements:  
- 5 years' higher PQE
- Manufacturing experience essential
- Written and spoken English essential
- Cross-functional and hierarchical management of teams
- Be both a leader and a business partner
- Experience in a similar role and context (essential)
- Ability to align with the company's specific objectives and constraints
- Ability to engage and negotiate with all company departments
- Ability to deal with a wide range of issues, strong organisational skills, adaptability and responsiveness
