Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor customer accounts and ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices.
- Assess credit applications and set appropriate credit limits.
- Maintain accurate records of customer payments and outstanding debts.
- Chase overdue accounts via phone, email, or formal letters in a professional manner.
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies or disputes with customers.
- Liaise with internal teams (sales, finance, operations) to ensure billing and payment processes are smooth.
- Prepare and present regular reports on aged debtors, payment trends, and risk exposure.
- Recommend improvements to credit control procedures to reduce bad debt.
- Escalate complex or high-risk debts to senior management as required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations.
- Proven experience as a Credit Controller, Accounts Receivable Officer, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of credit control procedures and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel in particular) and accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Analytical mindset to assess credit risk and financial data.
