A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (eTrading) to join its Front Office-aligned electronic trading support team.
This role sits within a global production support function responsible for supporting mission-critical Rates and Credit electronic trading systems. You'll work closely with traders, developers, infrastructure teams and external market venues to ensure the stability, performance and availability of a highly complex trading environment.
The team supports a large-scale global infrastructure estate across Europe, North America and Asia, covering pricing platforms, algorithmic trading systems, market connectivity and straight-through processing solutions.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day support of production trading environments
- Monitoring platform health, capacity and performance
- Incident management, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Managing production changes, releases and upgrades
- Supporting connectivity to exchanges, ECNs, brokers and market data providers
- Working closely with development and infrastructure teams to improve resilience, availability and performance
- Coordinating production activities with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Taking ownership of key applications and becoming the go-to technical expert for supported systems
- Maintaining and improving operational documentation and support procedures
- Strong Linux and Windows administration skills
- Experience supporting front-office or electronic trading applications
- Strong troubleshooting skills across CPU, memory, networking and system performance issues
- Scripting experience using one or more of:
- Python
- Shell
- PowerShell
- SQL
- Experience with Jenkins, Ansible or other CI/CD and automation tools
- Good understanding of servers, networking and firewall infrastructure
- Experience supporting Java, C++ or .NET applications
- Excellent incident management and problem-solving skills
- Experience supporting low-latency trading platforms
- Knowledge of electronic trading workflows
- Monitoring tools such as Geneos, Splunk or Zabbix
- Multicast messaging experience
- Experience with fixed income, rates or credit trading environments
- Exposure to vendor trading platforms and exchange connectivity
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
- Able to work effectively under pressure in a production environment
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
