Job description

Logistics & Compliance Officer
Luton- Hybrid
Salary- Up to £42,000 per annum
 
An established business is seeking a Logistics & Customs Compliance Officer for international trade operations.. This position would suit someone with hands-on experience managing import and export processes, working closely with freight forwarders, customs intermediaries, and internal stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage international inbound and outbound logistics, including materials and repair units.
  • Oversee shipping processes from origin to destination, ensuring correct customs procedures are applied.
  • Liaise with freight forwarders and customs intermediaries to ensure accurate declarations and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to support timely collection, clearance, and dispatch of goods.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK and international customs regulations.
  • Calculate and validate import VAT and duty, ensuring accurate reporting.
  • Manage customs procedures such as Inward Processing, Outward Processing, and Home Use.
  • Monitor time limits on temporary imports/exports and secure extensions where required.
  • Maintain accurate records for government reporting systems.
  • Prepare documentation and support internal and external customs audits.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customs and logistics compliance queries.
  • Coach and support cross-functional teams on compliant logistics processes.
  • Develop, update, and maintain import/export procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement across logistics and compliance operations.
 
Key Attributes:
  • Proven experience in inbound and outbound logistics, imports and exports.
  • Minimum 3 years in a logistics, customs, or trade compliance role.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures.
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
  • Confident working cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and logistics teams.
  • Experience using ERP or manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues on compliance best practice
